Not at Alchemy. Our experienced injectors employ a highly nuanced approach that delivers effective results while ensuring your face retains its beautiful, natural movement. By placing the correct dose of the medicine precisely into the targeted muscles, we soften the deep frown lines while allowing the surrounding muscles to move freely, avoiding the "frozen" look that comes from inelegant neuromodulator application.
Because this product has a different protein concentration, its dosages are not equivalent to other neuromodulator brands like Botox. You will likely need more units of Dysport, usually about 2.5 to 3 units for a single unit of Botox, to achieve the desired result. During your consultation, we will determine the appropriate dosage based on your facial muscles and cosmetic goals.
We recommend waiting 4-6 hours, or ideally until the following morning, before applying makeup. This gives the injection sites ample time to completely close up, protecting your skin from bacteria or surface irritation. When you do reintroduce makeup, be sure to use clean brushes and apply it with very gentle, light motions.
Experiencing a mild, temporary headache after receiving cosmetic injections is a relatively common and harmless response that usually resolves within 24 hours. If you feel any discomfort, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever like acetaminophen. Be sure to avoid anti-inflammatory medicines like aspirin or ibuprofen immediately after treatment, as these can increase your risk of minor bruising at the injection sites.
While botulinum toxin solutions act locally within the injected muscles and do not easily enter your systemic blood circulation, clinical studies have not yet established their safety during pregnancy. Out of an abundance of caution for the health of your baby, we will always advise you to postpone your cosmetic injectable treatments until you have finished pregnancy and breastfeeding.
While you will likely notice your lines softening within 2-5 days, the medicine requires a full 2 weeks to reach its peak effect, as the nerve signals adjust and the muscles relax completely. We always recommend waiting a full 14 days before evaluating your final results or considering any adjustments.
